3 basic rag dolls

I decided to go back to basics, where I started. Rag dolls.

Making the patterns, then the sewing and finishing the doll Is something I still enjoy.

I have done several dolls, and small cloth toys, in the last 2 years, the latest are 3 rag dolls with embroidered faces , hair and shoes.

I was inspired by Ann Saterstrom of slow stitch toys on etsy. She has some really precious rag dolls.

I have finished these dolls and clothes

The first of the 3 ,I made, I used vintage linen napkins.

The muslin dress needs embroidery but that will wait as I am wall papering my kitchen.

I will do some stitching on it later when I need a hand work project. Maybe even wait till spring so I can stitch while sitting on my screen porch.

The last has a vintage dresser scarf as her dress.

It is cold here in Iowa----- but only 49 days till the first day of spring.

I always think I need winter to really appreciate spring.

My doll room is full but I will keep making dolls -----because I still can.

I need joy in my life, and making dolls has always done that.

I pray for all who are ill and have lost loved ones. Blessing Judy J.

Dress done.

Her dress was a challenge. I made the pattern to big. But it turned out just fine with some adjustments.

She is modeling a bonnet and a knit cap.

She needs a coat and a matching hat.

More progress

 Hilde is her name.

Her wig is done. It was quite a process.

Her underclothes I did yesterday. I used the book,The dolls dressmaker by Venus Dodge.

Dress pattern to big . I will take it apart and cut to fit.

Her socks I bought at an Amish county store.

Her shoes I, recently, found at an antique store.

She is so cute in person. Makes me smile.

More work on the KK doll.

I have never made a wig like this before. All just by trial and error. I watched many videos and used parts from several to make this wig.

I had sewn several of the wefts on but took them off to get a center part.

I am now waiting for the glue to dry. Instead of sewing on the sets I am going to glue them on then style the wig.

The wefts are made from yarn. Cut lengths of yarn maybe 14 inches. I took apart the strands then pulled on the end of each strand to make bundles of yarn.

I sewed eace bundle onto a strip of thin fabric. Sewed with straight stitch small stitches then zig raged over the stitches to make more  secure. Brushed to the yarn bunches with a wire dog brush.

I had to tie the wig cap to the body to keep it in place. Next step coming up.
