sanding progress/base coat acrylic paint

I sanded until I thought she was good enough. There is a bit I should have done more but if I had the nose would have been lopsided.

I will start oil painting her soon but first I have to do a little quilt for a challenge.

Progress

Sanding  and more sanding. I will never be satisfied so decided she will just not be as perfect as I want---- but then she will never be a Kathe Kruse creation,---she is a wanna be KK.
On to the painting. I took off the cloth I had glued on ----the tiny wrinkles were to noticeable.
The previous paint color showing through the last paper clay addition.

Gesso KK

I am trying the gesso but there are still places I missed when sanding.Taking pictures really does allow me to see what needs more attention.

I may sand a bit more. then gesso again to see if I can make it better. I am going to add fabric over the face.

More progress on KK wanna be.

Each day I do a bit more on my KK wanna be.

4 layers of paper clay layers added, sanded.

Today I did , the layer of Helen Pringles messy mix mixed with flesh color acrylic paint, to the doll.

It made it easier, for me, to add another layer of paper clay to the cheeks and around her eyes. I will sand again. so far I am liking her.

More progress

She may not look anything like a KK doll but I love her already. There is more paper clay work to do and more sanding. I will then decide if she needs the cloth hankie face cover.

More on new doll

This is my inspiration doll. The boy's face  is a little fatter

So far I have made the skull cap from ridged wrap. I wrapped the doll in saran wrap. Several layers of rigid wrap. Then dried for a couple of days.

Next I glued on the skull cap on the head.

Next step is the paper

clay to get the shape of the KK doll head.
The ears will go on next then more paper clay. Cheeks need to be built up too.

So fun!
